Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a time tested system of health care and management. Traditional Chinese Medicine has a vast history of over 2500 years. TCM has the ability to restore your health and initiate your body's self regulating and self healing capabilities.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on theories of systematic correspondence (such as Yin and Yang, Five Elements etc.) its techniques in DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS are unique to this form of medicine. TCM's methodology takes into account all contributing factors to a patient's condition; the physician will include your emotional, environmental, and physical state.

TCM incorporates a variety of treatment modalities; depending on the state of your condition, the following are incorporated by the Sydney Acupuncture group :

Acupuncture

Chinese Herbal Medicine
Tui Na - Therapeutic Massage
Dietary Therapy / Nutritional Advice
Corrective Exercises
Moxibustion
Cupping
Auriculotherapy (Ear Acupressure/Acupuncture)

Traditional Chinese Medicine can be applied for long-term management and relief of acute and/or chronic conditions. TCM should also be considered as a preventative approach to maintain a healthy and trouble free lifestyle. We have a number of treatment programs that can discussed with your practitioner.

The Acupuncture Evidence Project – A Comparative Literature Review 2017, was conducted for seeking the evidence for the effectiveness of acupuncture. The study found that there was 117 conditions, with stronger evidence for acupuncture’s effectiveness for certain conditions.

The literature which focused on systematic reviews and meta analyses. The study showed strong evidence for the support and effectiveness of acupuncture for 8 conditions, moderate evidence supported the use of acupuncture for a further 38 conditions, weak positive/unclear evidence supported the use of acupuncture for 71 conditions, and little or no evidence was found for the effectiveness of acupuncture for five conditions (meaning that further research is needed to clarify the effectiveness of acupuncture in these last two categories).
